Jockey Club was busting at the seams as tonights field swelled to 50 players! This marked the 7th of past 10 events at this venue to break 40 players to award even greater prizes to EPT SOMA players!

The final table began 8 handed as Andy "Glue" Gomaa busted 9th seconds after Phil Pacheco, 10th, as each top 16 table lost a player to send on the final 8. Pacheco and Brendan Souza, who was super stacking early on after a dream triple up, were the final 2 horses of the 7 person, all new, Berkley Crew, introduced by Michael Garrant. With Pacheco bubbling the FT, Souza was Berkleys last man standing but entered the FT a bottom 3 stack and was finished off in 8th.

Play noticeably tightened up 7 handed and, though generally healthy all night, Robert Santangelo was the next man ousted. John Hickey played a tight FT but with blinds at 10/20k his all in for 35k more was called by the BB, Keith Marshall. Though Marshall called light, Hickey revealed 46s, flopped an open ended straight but couldnt draw out and signed out 6th. Marshall seemed to enjoy his FT experience more than most as he stacked two players, played several hands blind in sb v bb situations, and survived many all ins! However when he shipped the button, Dave Grenon snap called from the BB w/KK. Marshall needed a duck for a set but it wasnt meant to be as he exited 5th.

Dave DaRosa had a nice stack but the blinds crept up on him and he just couldnt find a hand or spot to add some chips and finally bubbled the prizepool in 4th. Paul Hudson played a fine tournament but couldnt build any momentum towards a championship run as he went card dead at the FT. Dave Grenon busted him in 3rd leaving Dave HU for the 2nd straight Wednesday night.

Mark Esters won the HU match last week v. Grenon but tonight Esters was the bounty. David was calling out Esters, hungry for bounty points, before the 2 even shared the same felt. However they did late night and David made good on his declaration, bouncing defending champ Esters before Top 16! Impressive!

Tom Collins was left to face David tonight. Collins was the only player at the FT who had been getting the better of Grenon. The two battled through 20/40k and most of 30/60k, with Collins scoring a huge double up as he 3 bet all in with his QJs which Grenon was forced to pay off with QTs. From this point on though Grenon applied consistent pressure to build his stack while Collins was kept alive through walks. Grenon was just too hot and it wasnt long before Collins was left flipping for his life, and tonight Dave wasnt losing flips. David was playing his 5th FT in his past 8 events, and tonight claimed his 2nd win of Season 21 while Collins respectably added his 7th 2nd place finish to this seasons resume! Congratulations David and Tom and thank you to all the faces, new and old, who made tonights event a success!

Directors Note: At just 18 years old, David Grenon is improving his game and proving he is a player to watch out for! David earned bounty points for the second consecutive event! This also marked the 4th event, of 5 SOMA events this year, that the victor also knocked out the bounty! Odd but true!
