A well above average field of 40 entered RI Billiards tonight for some NL HE action. This tournament featured many players who made their first visit to the venue, 3 players even trekking from CT!!!! When the food was gone and the dust settled it was Pavel Malyuta who outlasted all others to claim his first win of the season! He sat big stacked at the FT the whole time and played a tight aggressive pre flop game that worked to perfection. Dewey Ordovas seemed prime to give Pavel a run for his money after grinding a short stack into the chip lead but as the blinds increased and every hand became more important he just couldnt find the magic needed to take it down and exited 3rd. Tre Monteiro was the final player left to face Malyuta but it only took a single hand with both players all in and Pavel having a 50k chip lead and JT v Monteiros A/rag. A river J ended the evening and Malyuta was all smiles. 4th place finisher, and recipient of a RI Billiards gift package, was Steve Charron. Charron played perhaps the best of the final 9 but Malyuta trapped him after turning trip jacks and checking to Charron who floated the flop and over aggressively bet the turn to double up Malyuta on his way to victory.
